A few colour views from my collection of images of unknown origin, bought at auction.
1002 ‘County Of Berks’ is seen near Chacewater on 16th May 1959. The abbreviated name does seem a little harsh on the residents of that particular county.
1018 ‘County Of Leicester’ is in charge of a lightweight local service, leaving Truro on 2nd July 1960.
In misty low cloud conditions 6800 ‘Arlington Grange’ departs St Erth station in June 1960. Apart from a couple of brief holidays in Wales, this loco spent most of its 27 year life allocated to Penzance shed.
5557 waits at Par with a local passenger service on a brighter day in June 1960.
4569 takes the branch train from Liskeard to Looe; the date on this image gives it as 19th April 1960, but the riverside trees look rather too bare for mid-April in South Cornwall.
4565 leaves Bodmin behind with a branch passenger service on 27th May 1961.
4992 ‘Crosby Hall’ has charge of The Cornishman at Truro on 24th July 1959.
